Demand for Humless Power Systems Coming from Developing Countries!

There is now at least one mobile phone link for every two people in India. Yet, 300 million Indians, a quarter of the population, still have no access to electricity in the home (read this recent HuffingtonPost Article).

Humless power experts say that while this may amaze, given India’s emergence as a technology leader on the world stage, the story is not so rare among countries supporting millions of citizens in rural “off-grid” communities. And, just as the cell phone revolution enabled countries like those in developing Asia to skip the wired generation for a wireless infrastructure, Humless says their silent, portable power systems are drawing interest from developing nations.

Jamaica, Africa, and post-quake electricity starved Japan are among those asking for a custom Humless design using solar,” stated Glenn Jakins, Humless CEO. “We knew demand would be high here in the U.S. for emergency preparedness applications such as home hurricane planning. However, the interest is high as word gets out of our uniquely silent and portable power system.”

Countries like Ukraine are currently researching micro solar solutions to free themselves from dependency on Russian natural gas, where wintertime supply is questionable. But, the sweet spot for Humless technology may be providing the power to populations whose prospect for power grid connection is more long-term or non-existent.

“In America, we use electricity like water,” says Jakins. “Turn on the tap and leave it on. It’s cheap and readily available to homes, except during emergency. In my home continent of Africa, they just want a reading light at night or a simple fan. Rural medical clinics simply want power so babies won’t be delivered in the dark.”
